Overview

URL Hunter is an easy and powerful way to capture the hidden URLs of streaming video and audio from the internet. If you get the stream url , you can save the media forever on your PC with other downloader managers(WM Downloader, RM Downloader, CastRipper or Shadow Stream Recorder).

All the popular streaming formats are supported, including:

• Flash™ Video FLV format files - (HTTP protocol)
• Windows Media™ (HTTP, MMS and RTSP protocols)
• Real Audio™ and Real Video™ (HTTP and RTSP protocols)
• Mpeg
• Streaming MP3 (Shoutcast™)

Important: URL Hunter is intended for use as a personal archiving tool only. Please respect the rights of the copyright holders of any material you record.

Requirements

URL Hunter requires Winpcap 4.0 or higher. If you don't have it, you can download it here. Supported Windows versions are 2000, XP, and Vista.

How To Capture

Capturing is easy. You can click button 'Start' to capture URLs. Also, you can choose AUTO Capturing Mode (under the Options button).

Here's how to select AUTO Capturing mode:

Click button 'Option', select 'Turn AUTO ON' or 'Turn AUTO OFF' menu item.  With the default AUTO recording mode enabled:

1. Using your browser or your media player, play the video or audio you want to record.
2. Capturing starts automatically. The Start button turns to STOP. The stream urls will appear in the list box.
3. To end url capturing, click button STOP.  

With AUTO Capturing mode disabled:

1. Click 'Start' button. Using your browser or your media player, play the video or audio you want to record. The URL (Internet address) and the File Name of the clip are displayed on the list box. 
2. To end url capturing click button Stop.

Important: If you're having trouble capturing, try this:

1. Close all open Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer Windows.
2. Open URL Hunter.
3. Reopen your browser or Media Player.
4. Click Start.
5. Play the video to record.

It's necessary to close all browser windows and Windows Media Player before opening the URL Hunter.

Options

When you click Options on the main screen, the following menu appears:

Turn Auto OFF turns Auto capturing mode ON or OFF.

Set Filters: If this menu item is clicked, the following dialog appears:

You can select the stream url's types which you want to capure.

Remove Duplicates: If this menu item is checked, the same links will not repeatedly appear in the list box.

Only Scan This Computer: If this menu item is unchecked, URL Hunter will work in promiscuous mode.  As some network adapters that can only scan in non-promiscuous mode, please set this menu item checked.

Keep Shadow On Top: If this menu item is checked, URL Hunter will always remain visible.

View Log File: Open the capturing log.

Check/Enter Registration: Enter or view your registration information.
